I would suggest you start off the apartment hunt by looking in the classifieds section of the Phuket Gazette.  There are many ads inside the Gazette in regards to Phuket apartment and house rentals. Where to get lower rates on apartments in Phuket? Generally it's considerably cheaper if you can find a Phuket apartment that is being rented out by the apartment owner directly. The Phuket real estate agents also offer apartments for rent however the rental prices offered by the agencies are generally more expensive. If you are looking for a luxurious Phuket apartment or house in Phuket then a Phuket real estate agent is probably a better option. The upscale real estate objects on the island can't easily be found through the Phuket real estate classifieds. Where should the Phuket apartment be located? The next question that you should think about is where the location of your new apartment in Phuket should be. I would suggest for you to first think about the location of your new Phuket apartment. You will encounter ads and offers for apartments throughout Phuket and the location will definitely make a difference. Patong apartments are more expensive Let's assume that you are looking for a normal studio or 1 bedroom apartment. Generally Patong is the most popular location for those in the hunt for a new Phuket apartment. The rental price for a Patong apartment or condo is therefore somewhat higher than similar apartments found in Karon, Kamala or at locations land inwards such as Kathu. In my opinion is not only the price more expensive for Phuket apartments but at the same time the quality of the average Patong condo or flat is lower than elsewhere on the island. Consider living outside Patong For the same price that you would pay for an apartment in Patong, you could get a much larger and nicer apartment elsewhere on Phuket at a lower price. If you go just over the hill to Kathu, you can find many available houses with garden for the same price or less then what the average Phuket apartment in Patong will cost. Many guys do end up choosing for an apartment in Patong as they want to be close to all the action. We were all new arrivals to Phuket at one time and many of us also had the same strong desire to live in Patong. Most long term Phuket expats however discovered over time that living elsewhere on Phuket is much nicer. Look for an apartment in the Phuket Gazette The Phuket gazette does frequently have listings published in the classifieds section for Patong apartments and ;studios so that is a great place where you start to looking. There is another way to find available Patong apartments which takes a little effort but can lead you to find much nicer and cheaper apartments in Patong. Rent a motor bike in case you don't have on yet and just start driving up and down all the small streets in Patong and look out for signs with: "Apartment for rent" or "Available Rooms" etc. Keeping your eye out for "for rent" signs You will soon find many of these "for rent" signs around Patong. Please don't make the mistake by simply taking the first Phuket apartment that you find. The quality and price of Phuket apartments can vary a great deal. Just spend a day driving around Patong and I am sure you will find a nice selection of available Patong apartments to choose from. Don’t forget to drive up Nanai road which is on the hillside overlooking Patong as you can find some great deals on Phuket apartments  and the views from some of the locations along Nanai are just awesome. If you are more interested in finding an available Phuket apartment in a different location on Phuket then the same search method applies. Drive around on your motorbike and look for the signs. Phuket real estate agent Another way to find an apartment on Phuket is to select a street or area which appeals to you and stop at one if the little mini markets. Have a chat with the owner of the shop and ask about available Phuket apartments or houses. These little Phuket corner shops are often the center of the local community and the owners know everything about everybody including who is renting out an available house or Phuket condo. Try it and see for yourself how well informed these shop owners are about what Phuket apartments are for rent in their area of Phuket.
